Holbox is a small island in the state of Quintana Roo where the mysticism of a little fisherman town still prevails.
The island has an extension of 40 kilometers long and 2 wide, with 34 kilometers of white sand gorgeous beaches where the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean Sea gather together in green and blue shades that mixed show overwhelming turquoise combinations of color.
Is located in front of the north coasts of Quintana Roo, just at the tip of the Yucatan Peninsula. The island, in spite of the lack of Banks, shopping malls or discotheques, it has come to be one more tourism point at the Quintana Roo state, becoming a rustic place where you can take a tour in a motorboat around the island and in the lagoon of Yalahán, such as visit other main attractions as its beautiful landscapes, the colonies of water birds and the good restaurants where you’ll eat excellent seafood.
To move yourself in the island you can rent a bicycle, a golf car, a motorboat or a kayak to travel around the island and observe the natural beauty of the Caribbean island; the human quality of the people of the island is recognized for the kindness and good treatment everybody gets visiting the Holbox Island. Another important attractive of this tropical paradise, is the natural biosphere reserve of “Yum Balam” place where between green mangroves you’ll watch iguanas, pink flamingos, pelicans, rabihorcados, carmoranes and sea swallows, while in the crystal clear waters of the caribbean you’ll see dolphins, barracudas, mantas, carey turtles and even whale sharks.
The easiest way to get to the island is boarding the ship at the wharf of Chiquila. Just 20 minutes from the island.
